It is with great pleasure and pride that the Michigan Youth Soccer League (MYSL) announces that one of our youth players was named the 2018 All-American at the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago.
Cecilia Steinwascher as a sophomore at Grand Valley State University was the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and a D2CCA first team All-Region selection. Her leadership at center back helped the Laker defense remain in the national top five in scoring defense all season long.
As a freshman (2017), Cecilia was ranked as third-best player in the state of Michigan by MLive.com… D2CCA All-America second team honors, first team all-region and second team All-GLIAC… A lockdown center back right from the start, Steinwascher played in all 24 games and made 23 starts in the key defensive slot throughout her freshman campaign.*
Cecilia was a member of the Youth Club—Nationals, coached most recently by her father Henry Steinwascher. She played in the MYSL as a member of the Michigan Gators.
