UPDATE FROM THE MYSL PRESIDENT
March 23, 2020
Please note, the MYSL recognizes that while the official start of our MYSL season is April 17th, there have been games scheduled prior to that date, and under our current MSYSA and U.S. Youth directive, games scheduled before April 13th are cancelled. It has not been determined at this time if rescheduling these games will be prudent or possible. I will notify all Leagues/Clubs, coaches and managers as decisions are made at the national and state level which directly impact our season. Please read our current position below.
MYSL is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and its effect on our 2020 Spring Season. I am in constant contact with the executive director and the president of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association to assess their position and that of our national association.
During these discussions I have emphasized that the best outcome would be for the national and state leagues to embrace the concept of having both a Spring Season 2020 as well as a Fall Season 2020 by adjusting tryout dates, regional and national tournament dates, and by considering the reduction of the maximum number of games in each season — all to provide our players, coaches, leagues and clubs, and referees the opportunity to enjoy our great game in 2020. Having made the MYSL position known, I will keep you informed as decisions are made at the national and state levels so that we can all coordinate our efforts for our players. Please return often to this page for those updates.
